KREMC Employees Raise $800 For Breast Cancer Awareness

WARSAW — The color pink doesn’t necessarily come to mind when you think of Kosciusko REMC linemen, but when they took a vote to see who would support wearing pink hard hats for the month of October, it was unanimous.
KREMC employees teamed up to raise just over $800 for Breast Cancer Awareness month. Donations were split between the Kosciusko County Cancer Care Fund and Francie’s Friends Mobile Mammography. For the month-long collection a “Pink Ribbon Wall of Fame” was added in the lobby, where anyone could make a donation to add a personalized ribbon to the wall. Barbecue sandwiches and chili were made and the sold to employees for $5 and pink hair extensions were available for a $10 donation.
“KREMC has many families and friends who have been affected by this disease,” noted KREMC Communications Specialist Katy Berger. “It is sad to think that literally everyone knows someone with cancer but we hope that by raising awareness and supporting local organizations such as the Cancer Care Fund and France’s Friends, we can help make a difference.”
