Beatrice A. ‘Bea’ Brown
Beatrice A. “Bea” Brown, 93, of Mishawaka, formerly of Syracuse, passed away at 3:15 a.m. on Friday, Nov. 13, 2015, at Golden Living Nursing Home in Mishawaka.
She was born on Jan. 13, 1922 in Elkhart, to Chester Hugh and Alta (Taylor) Books.
She graduated from Niles High School in Niles, Mich., and on April 13, 1949, she married Richard A. “Dick” Brown who preceded her in 1992.
She was a homemaker and was formerly employed with McCormick & Cutter Chevrolet in Syracuse, and Indiana Surgical in Indianapolis as a bookkeeper. She lived most of her life in Syracuse, Indianapolis and Tampa, Fla., before moving to the Osceola/Mishawaka area a few years ago.
She was a life member of the VFW Auxiliary Post No. 1342 in Syracuse, former member of the Order of the Eastern Star Chapter No. 397 in Goshen, and formerly attended the United Brethren Church and Syracuse Church of God.
She is survived by: three granddaughters: Patty (Matt Sherwood) Wogoman-Sherwood of Granger; Debra (Aaron) Rice of Cedar Springs, Mich.; and Dorrie Langdon of Cromwell; eight great-grandchildren: Schuyler Bailey, Billy Hammer, Blake Hammer, Kaiden Parker, Catherine Trant, Ashley Langdon, Michelle Langdon, and Tori Langdon; foster grandson: Robbie Ginn of Midland, Texas; and son-in-law: Clifford Wogoman of Syracuse.
She was preceded by her parents, husband; daughter: Sherrie Wogoman; and three brothers: Willard, Norvan, and Donald Books.
Cremation will take place at Cremation Services of Kosciusko County, 4356 N. SR 15, Warsaw. Private family burial will take place in the Syracuse Cemetery. A Celebration of Life Luncheon will be held at noon Monday, Nov. 23, at the Church of God, 104 E. Washington St., Syracuse, with Pastor Stan Owen of the church presiding.
