Satellites Top Trojans
BOURBON – The early-season struggles for the Triton girls basketball team continued Friday night.
The host Trojans dropped a 42-24 final to visiting South Central in non-conference action.
The Satellites led 13-5 after the opening period and 26-9 at halftime against the winless Trojans.
Triton shot just 7-29 overall from the field, including 1-9 on 3-pointers, in the loss. The hosts were 9-15 from the free throw line and also had 24 turnovers in falling to 0-3 on the season.
Hannah Wvnemacher led the Trojans with 12 points.
Sarah Stevens and Charlotte Morris each had four points and Quinn Downing and Shayla May each added two for the Trojans. Morris also had eight rebounds in the contest.
The Triton duo of Jaela Meister, the team’s top returning scorer from last year, and Nicole Sechrist did not play in the game.
Riley Popplewell had 14 points and 10 rebounds to lead South Central, which improved to 2-1. Morgan Wright had 10 points for the winners.
Triton plays at Bremen and South Central hosts Hobart Tuesday night.
