George Herbert Schlosser
George Herbert Schlosser, 85, Rochester, and formerly of the Argos Community, died at 1:15 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 11, 2015, at the Life Care Center of Rochester, Rochester, he had been in declining health for the past couple of years.
George was born on Oct. 3, 1930, in Argos, to E. Ralph Schlosser & Edna Irene (Milner) Schlosser. George was a lifetime resident of the Argos community. He married Gloria Wade, later they divorced. He then married Margie Rose Creighbaum on Nov. 16, 1962, who precedes him in death. Together they moved to the family farmstead on Jarrah Road, Argos in 1970 where they enjoyed many years and celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary in 2012. She preceded him on Sept. 1, 2014.
George was a Heavy Equipment Operator for Reith-Riley where he retired in 1992. He was a graduate of Argos High School with the class of 1948 and was the Class President. George was a Veteran of the Korean War, proudly serving in the United States Army, and earning an Honorable Discharge following the War. George was a member of the Argos American Legion Post#68 and the Plymouth VFW Post#1822. He was a past member of the Plymouth Moose Lodge#741 and Plymouth-Kilwinning Masonic Lodge#149. George was a good basketball player and ran track in High School.
He is survived by his daughter: Cynthia ‘Schlosser’ Beal, Atlanta, Ga.; along with grandchildren: Lauren; Sarah; sister: Virginia J. VanDerWeele, Argos; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; both wives; and brother: James Ralph Schlosser.
Friends may visit with the family from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Monday, Nov. 16, at Earl-Grossman Funeral Home, Argos. Funeral Services will follow the visitation at 1 p.m. Monday, Nov. 16, at the funeral home with Rev. Heather Foley of the Argos United Methodist Church. Burial will follow at the Maple Grove Cemetery, Argos, with the James Lowell Corey American Legion Post#68 conducting Military services.
