Area Football Teams Continue Tourney Trail
The area will be well represented Friday night as the IHSAA state tournament series for football continues.
The Northern Lakes Conference has one team still standing in Plymouth. The Rockies, who defeated NorthWood last Friday night to earn a sectional championship, will play host to Fort Wayne Dwenger in a Class 4-A regional contest.
The Three Rivers Conference and the Hoosier North Athletic Conference each still have one team remaining in the tournament too. Northfield will represent the TRC in a Class 1-A regional game at Adams Central. Undefeated Pioneer will represent the HNAC in a Class 1-A regional contest at Lafayette Central Catholic.
The Northern Indiana Conference still has a handful of teams left in postseason play. The list of five includes Penn, Mishawaka, South Bend St. Joseph, Mishawaka Marian and Bremen.
Perennial power Penn will host Carmel in a Class 6-A semistate matchup Friday night. The Kingsmen have lost to the Greyhounds in the semistate the last two years, including a 14-13 final in 2014.
Mishawaka Marian, which has played its last seven games all at home, will travel to Culver Academies for a Class 3-A regional game.
