Two Juveniles Detained In Thefts, Damages
SYRACUSE — A tip lead police to two juveniles in Syracuse after three businesses and two warehouses were broken into early Saturday morning, Nov. 7. Most of the items stolen were recovered. Damage and items stolen were valued at close to $17,000.
According to a Syracuse Police report Jeff Galloway, supervisor at Main Channel Marina, South Lakeside Drive, notified police the business had been burglarized. Galloway told police one of the workers found a window to the office broken.
Taken from the business were eight boxes of Go Pro Heros, four silver camcorders, five packs of 32GB Sport Mobile macro USB ports; four packs of 64GB micro SDXC cards, a Cannon digital camera, vinyl electric tape, lens cloth, D595 digital camera, a computer, four Maui Jim sun glasses, three polarized Oakley sun glasses, one Sea-Doo sun glasses, two boat rubber containers with keys, a bolt cutter, two crow bars, three ball pein hammers and three 3M black bags.
The intruders also vandalized seven canvas boat covers for new pontoons and the office carpet with a flare stick.
While police were working on this burglary, they were called to Hoosier Hot Rods, 107 N. Hickory Street, owned by Tomas E. Finlinson. At his business a rear door pane was damaged and a new enclosed trailer damaged with flare burns inside. Taken were a master lock, first aid kit, box of bandages, bottle of Aleve, hydrogen peroxide, first aid eye wash, blue canvas Makita tool bag and numerous cans of Rustoleum Krylon spray paint.
Additional reports were received from Randy Niles who reported damage to the front door at his warehouse at 306 N. Turkey Creek Lane, and damage to a boat cover in a warehouse from Brad Schults, North Hickory Lane.
Police received a tip indicating who possible suspects were associated with the break-ins and vandalism. Police spoke with the two juveniles and parents, locating most of the stolen items. While doing an inventory of the items, police found items belonging to Cool Beans Espresso, 109 N. Huntington Street, Syracuse, not yet reported stolen. Police found three large bags of cheddar cheese, three large bags of sausage links, a bag of Coarsen buns and a master lock.
Information on the juveniles will be sent to the probation department for further action.
