Missing Nappanee Teen Located in Goshen
ELKHART COUNTY — The parents of missing 15-year-old female Kali Bercaw are breathing easier this morning, according to Nappanee Police Department officers.
Goshen Police located Kali around 7:45 p.m. Monday, Nov. 9, after receiving a tip from a member of the public. Kali was located in an apartment in Goshen, staying with a friend. According to Detective Capt. Brook Germann, Kali reported her cellphone had lost power and she had not thought to contact her parents to communicate her plans to stay in Goshen with a friend.
Kali is back with her parents, and they are “doing what parents do,” laughed Germann.
Nappanee Police Department confirmed Kali Bercaw, age 15, was reported missing around 1 a.m. Sunday, Nov. 8. According to police, Kali was last seen by her family at 4 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 7, in Nappanee and last spoke to her mother around 11 p.m. via text message.
At that time, Kali communicated she was trying to find her way home from Elkhart with a friend, but communication then stopped. Police report the friend she was said to be with was picked up as a runaway by the Elkhart County Sheriff’s Department at 6 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 7.
Police were unable to track her phone, as it had lost power.
