Indiana Guard Reserve Hosts Commex Event

The Indiana Guard Reserve 1BDE met at the Leesburg fire station Saturday, Nov. 7, for its monthly drill. The first formation was at 8:30 a.m., then radio equipment was set up on the east side of the station for a nationwide Commex. The purpose of the Commex was to establish high frequency communications with other state defense forces across the nation.
At 9:30 a.m., communication was established with the Virginia Defense Force Net Control. They were also able to monitor check-in’s for South Carolina, New York, Indiana, West Virginia, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Virginia and Michigan State Defense Forces.
They also assisted Kosciusko County EMA Director Ed Rock with maintenance and organizing the county incident command trailer. They performed maintenance and organized the equipment that was used at annual training.
