ICRC Announces Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Contest
INDIANA — The Indiana Civil Rights Commission in conjunction with the Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Indiana Holiday Commission, Indiana Arts Commission, Indiana Black Expo, Inc. and the Indianapolis Recorder, cordially invite Indiana students, grades nine through 12, to participate in the 2016 Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Art, Writing and Mixed Media Contest.
In his speech, “Where do we go from here?” Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. encouraged us to “walk on in the days ahead with an audacious faith in the future.” Through art, writing or mixed media, we encourage the high school generation to show how they can continue the fight for a future where access, opportunity and justice are equal for everyone.
One winner will be selected and will receive:
- A $500 college scholarship
- The Passing the Torch award from Governor Mike Pence
- An invitation as a special guest to the 25th Annual Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Indiana Holiday Celebration Thursday, Jan. 14, at the Indiana Statehouse
If you have any further questions about the contest, call Christine Meyer, Deputy Director, External Affairs, Indiana Civil Rights Commission, at (317) 232-2651, or by e-mail at [email protected].
