Hand Gun, Drugs Found In Vehicle
ETNA GREEN — Police found a handgun, scales, hypodermic syringe and bags with a white powdery substance and a crystal like substance in a vehicle after a man was taken to the hospital when he was found unconscious two times in his vehicle Thursday, Oct. 29.
Andrew Ryan Brogdon, 22, 10551 McKinley Highway, Osceola, also of 729 S. 34th St., South Bend, was arrested on preliminary charges of possession of methamphetamine, enhanced to a level 5 felony due to the possession of a firearm. He was booked in the county jail at 10:05 a.m.
County Animal Control Officer Jerry Clase was at the Etna Green Mini Mart when he saw an individual, who appeared to be unconscious, at the wheel of a vehicle sitting at the gas pump. Clase knocked on the window and the individual, later identified as Brogdon, exited the vehicle walking into the business, appearing extremely intoxicated. When the individual returned to his vehicle, he appeared to go unconscious again. Clase then notified emergency personnel.
Sheriff’s Officer Christopher Anderson arrived and observed a marijuana smoking bong in plain view inside the vehicle. After EMS personnel transported Brogdon to Kosciusko Community Hospital for treatment and testing to determine alcohol and/or drugs in his system, police towed the vehicle and conducted an inventory.
A field test on the white powdery residue tested positive for methamphetamine. In total, police found 3.7 grams of methamphetamine.
Brogdon is being held on $15,000 surety and $250 cash bond.
