Gene L. Slone
Gene L. Slone, 63, Warsaw, passed away at 10 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 25, 2015, at Mason Health and Rehabilitation Center, Warsaw.
He was born Jan. 29, 1952, to Woodrow Slone and Vina (Whitaker) Cleveland. He was a 1971 graduate of Warsaw Community High School and was a lifetime Warsaw resident. Gene was the roll tender for R.R. Donnelley and Sons for 30 years, retiring in 2000. He was a charter member, trustee and past president of VFW #1126 Men’s auxiliary; member of the Northern Hoosier Pool League; loved to ride his motorcycle; had a good sense of humor and never met a stranger.
Gene is survived by his companion: Denise Messer, Warsaw; son: Brandon (Alicia) Slone, Akron; daughter: Emily Ann Slone, Warsaw; stepdaughter: Jerrica (Tyler) Marshall, Warsaw; stepson: Logan (Amanda) Messer, Milford; four grandchildren; three sisters: Brozie Elliott, Warsaw; Alvalee Engle, Warsaw; Jane Carroll, Warsaw; and brother: Larry (Teresa) Slone, South Whitley. He was preceded in death by his parents: Woodrow and Vina Slone; stepfather: Clayton Cleveland; brother: James Slone, on March 23, 2007; and sister: Vonda Smith, on March 1, 2003.
Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 28, at Titus Funeral Home, Warsaw. Service will be at 1 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 29, also at the funeral home, officiated by Pastor Glenn Hall, Harvest Community Church, Pierceton. Burial will be at Lakeview Cemetery, Silver Lake.
