Wagon Wheel Jr. Presents Halloween Show
WARSAW — Wagon Wheel Jr., the youth theatre branch of Wagon Wheel Center for the Arts, will present You Ain’t Nothin’ but a Werewolf at 2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 31 and Sunday, Nov. 1.
Before each performance, the theatre will host a Halloween open-house event, where attendees can participate in trick-or-treating, games, and a costume contest. Tickets to upcoming productions of Cinderella, Beauty and the Beast and Symphony of the Lakes’ Winter Magic will be given as prizes to costume contest winners. This event will begin at 12:30 p.m. both days and is free with a ticket to the show.
You Ain’t Nothin’ but a Werewolf is a zany spoof on 1950s B-movie horror. Everyone at Riverdale High, except the compassionate Claudia, considers Rupert Lydecker a loser. But really, he’s just terribly unsure of himself. Hoping to change his personality, Rupert visits the eerie hilltop asylum of the old and ancient Doctor Murdock Dangerfield, where he gulps down some icky goop, he transforms into a werewolf and hilarity ensues.
An Elvis Presley-inspired musical set rounds this show out, including numbers like “Golly! Golly!” “Blue Suede Paws,” “Teen Happy Moon,” “All Messed Up” and the comically passionate “Those Eyes, Those Lips, That Face.”
As with all Wagon Wheel Jr. productions, youth up to age 18 from Warsaw, Fort Wayne and the surrounding areas make up the cast of the production.
The show is sponsored by Mickey Fisher and Julie Cardia, alumni performers and long-time friends of Wagon Wheel Jr. Fisher is the creator of CBS’ sci-fi drama Extant, while Cardia is a Kevin Kline award-winning actress appearing in theatre productions across the country.
Tickets are on sale now at Wagon Wheel Center for the Arts or can be purchased online at wagonwheelcenter.org. The price of admission is $12. Call the box office at (574) 267-8041 with any questions.
