Allan Robert Willis
Allan Robert Willis, 69, Wakarusa, died at 3:45 a.m. Sunday, Oct. 25, 2015, at his residence. He was born Jan. 2, 1946, in Elkhart to Robert C. and Mary (Mellinger) Willis. Allan lived in Nappanee until his marriage to Linda Shumaker on Oct. 26, 1968 in Wakarusa. Since then they have resided in Wakarusa.
Mr. Willis is survived by his wife: Linda; daughter: Michelle Alderman, Wakarusa; son: Jon (Heidi) Willis, Bremen; grandchildren: Shayna and Maguire Alderman; McKay Menzie; Nicolle; Reece; and Gretchen Willis; and a cousin: Marcia Cook, Nappanee.
Mr. Willis retired from AM General and was a member of the UAW. He had also worked at BP Station in Wakarusa. He enjoyed backyard wiffle ball games and playing basketball with his kids and grandkids. His grandchildren have all participated in sports and he attended a majority of the games and rooted them on. Allan loved the White Sox and Green Bay Packers. His favorite vacation spot was Mackinac Island. He also bowled in Nappanee, Elkhart and Wakarusa leagues for many years.
Family and friends may call from 4-6 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 28, at Thompson-Lengacher and Yoder Funeral Home, Wakarusa. Funeral services will begin at 6 p.m. Pastor Vicky Blough from North Liberty St. John’s Lutheran Church will officiate. Cremation will take place and inurnment will take place at South Union Cemetery at a later date.
Memorial contributions may be given to Heartland Hospice in South Bend.
