All-NLC Soccer Lists Issued
GOSHEN – As the state finals approaches this weekend, the Northern Lakes Conference has officially issued its lists for the boys and girls soccer award winners for the 2015 season.
For boys soccer, Goshen reigned supreme for a second year as the top club, going 6-0-1, edging upstart Elkhart Memorial by a point for the title, the Chargers finishing 6-1. Concord finished third at 5-1-1.
Goshen were led by All-NLC performers Sebastian Flores, Juan Castaneda, Alejandro Rosales, Marcos Hernandez, Daniel Rosales and Locan Bontreger. Earning Honorable Mention All-NLC for Goshen were Favio Cruz, Alex Martinez and Alexis Martinez.
Elkhart Memorial had Jamie Garcia, Brayan Vargas, Jamie Mayorga, Javier Prieto and Daniel Brummet all make the All-NLC while Zachary Groulx and Oscar Ocampo take Honorable Mention All-NLC. Charger head coach Dan Sullivan was named NLC Coach of the Year.
Concord had six players make the lists, led by Paco Ocampo, Matthew Granitz, Christian Saleh and Ben Rich on the All-NLC and Nate Condor and Logan Wise on the Honorable Mention All-NLC.
NorthWood (3-3-1) had Trevor Brayton, David Eshelman and Matt Pippenger on the All-NLC and Isaac Bowser on the Honorable Mention All-NLC.
Northridge (2-4-1) landed Micah Cross and Noah Kaplon on the All-NLC and Paul Marvel on the Honorable Mention All-NLC.
Wawasee (2-5) had both Carlos Camargo and Hunter Magiera on the All-NLC and Alex Doll on the Honorable Mention All-NLC.
Both Warsaw and Plymouth were 1-6 and had one player on each list, with Plymouth’s Trevor Neidlinger and Warsaw’s Lucas Cone on the All-NLC and Plymouth’s Doug Overmyer and Warsaw’s Edward Esqueda on the Honorable Mention All-NLC.
For girls soccer, a 1-1 draw in the final match of the season between Warsaw and Northridge allowed the Lady Tigers to finish 6-0-1 and win the NLC title. Northridge finished 5-0-2, its second tie against Concord, which were 4-1-2.
Warsaw had a bevy of players make the grade, led by Elizabeth Van Wormer, Anna Grill, Brenna Shipley, Breck Jackson and Alex Koontz all make All-NLC with teammates Anna Sullivan, Dayle Harvey and Sydney Weideman all Honorable Mention All-NLC. Coach Peter Lucht was honored as NLC Coach of the Year.
Northridge had Ellie Lengacher, Brey Baltazar, Bailey O’Dell, Jade Thompson and Hayley Cunningham all make All-NLC while Maddie Kidder and Sage Schnell were Honorable Mention All-NLC.
Both Goshen and NorthWood finished 2-3-2 in the round robin, and each were given three All-NLC and one honorable mention. Goshen’s winners were Jill Kissinger, Alyssa Hershberger and Aylissa Trosper along with Catherine Loera. NorthWood’s were Amanda Heckaman, Arika Flickinger and Madi Eberle along with Regan Beck.
Plymouth (2-4-1) had Katie Berg and Madison Smith make All-NLC and Anna Bockman earn Honorable Mention All-NLC.
At 2-5, Elkhart Memorial’s Alexx Freshour was All-NLC and Kirstin Huber took Honorable Mention All-NLC.
Wawasee was 0-7 and had Leigh-Ann Shrack as All-NLC and Sarah Lancaster take Honorable Mention All-NLC.
