UPDATE: Accident Reported On CR 200E
LEESBURG — One driver was transported to Kosciusko Community Hospital and another driver arrested following a two-vehicle accident at 5:35 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 21. The accident was at the intersection of East CR 700N and North CR 200E, Leesburg.
Gabrielle E. Flannery, 19, Aspen Court, Warsaw, complained of pain to the head and was transported by Lutheran EMS – Kosciusko to the hospital.
Donald A. Walters, 41, West CR 625S, Claypool, was arrested for driving while suspended.
Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Officer Jon Tyler reports, Walters was southbound on CR 200E, in a 2007 Cadillac, and Flannery was eastbound in a 1998 Kia. Tyler notes there is a standing corn field on the northwest corner of the intersection, blocking the view of both drivers as they approached the intersection.
Walters told police he was southbound on CR 200E and stopped at the intersection. After stopping he pulled into the intersection and then saw the Flannery vehicle. The Flannery vehicle struck the passenger rear door of his vehicle. Flannery told police she saw Walters’ vehicle enter the intersection and attempted to skid to a stop avoid hitting the vehicle by turning right, but could not avoid the collision.
Amanda B. Maragon, 32, St. Augustine’s Drive, Warsaw, a passenger in Walters vehicle, was not injured.
Damage was estimated up to $25,000.
LEESBURG — Plain Township Fire Department and Lutheran EMS Kosciusko have responded to a two-vehicle accident at CR 700N and CR 200E, east of Leesburg, at approximately 5:40 p.m. today, Oct. 21.
The driver of a Kia Sportage was transported to Kosciusko Community Hospital. The driver and occupant of a Cadillac were not transported. Air bags were deployed
Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Department is investigating.
