In-Between Job Becomes Lifelong Career For Gast
By KATY BERGER
Communications Specialist, Kosciusko REMC
WARSAW — What started as an in-between job led Kathy Gast to a four-decade -and-counting career at Kosciusko REMC.
Gast started her career at the cooperative in 1975 after attending Grace College for a year. “I took a job at the co-op as my ‘in-between’ job while I tried to decide what I wanted to do,” Gast said. “I’m still here 40 years later.” During her tenure at the cooperative, Gast has worked in several capacities. She started as a customer service representative, picked up additional responsibilities as a bookkeeper and inventory specialist and then the co-op’s accountant.
Gast said the secret to staying at the co-op for 40 years is to enjoy what you do, appreciate the opportunities you are given and take pride in your work. She resides in Claypool with her husband, Mark. She has two children: Kyleigh and Bryce; and granddaughters: Indy and Pippa.
Kosciusko REMC President and CEO Bruce Goslee said, “Kathy is an integral part the KREMC family. In her 40 years at the cooperative, she assisted through many transitions including training new employees, procedure changes and technological advances, all with a great attitude and positive approach. I am very proud to have her on our team.”
KREMC is a member-owned Touchstone Energy electric cooperative serving over 17,000 members throughout Kosciusko County and into surrounding counties.
