Chamber Board Members Reelected
NORTH WEBSTER — Elections of board members highlighted the general meeting of the North Webster-Tippecanoe Township Chamber of Commerce Monday, Oct. 12, at American Legion Post 253. All three incumbents were returned to the board. They are Jen Ducey, Tippecanoe Township; Brenda Peterson, Lake City Bank; and Martha Stoelting, The Papers Inc.
Presiding was President Sue Ward, Sue’s Creations. Members present provided suggestions as to how to better serve the chamber mission statement “Helping to build a stronger community by promoting local businesses and opportunities for growth.”
It was agreed to do another member survey with several options to check as the first survey did not provide enough statistical data for pertinent feedback.
Ward congratulated the October 2015 Business or Organization of the Month, North Webster Fire Department and EMS. Frequently volunteering for the chamber, the group has assisted in countless ways, including arranging storage for the chamber shoe drive. The sign has been placed at the fire station.
Volunteers are being sought for a visit with Santa Saturday, Nov. 21. From 3 to 5 p.m. Santa will meet with children and there will be free photos with Santa as well as free games, crafts and bounce houses inside the North Webster Community Center gym. At 5 p.m. Santa will depart by fire truck to light the town tree on Pilcher’s lawn. Volunteers can email the chamber [email protected] or call (574) 834-7076 and leave a message.
“The chamber sponsors a visit with Santa to provide area children with a fun event to begin the holiday season and to kick off Christmas shopping,” Ward explained.
It was announced North Webster United Methodist Church’s Upward Bound Basketball League will undertake a shoe drive to assist the chamber. The league led by Deanna Strombeck will aim for 2,000 pairs of shoes by the end of the season in February. Last year the league earned $13,000 to assist a local family with medical bills.
The newsletter and new website are scheduled to be online by the first week in November according to Ben Ashpole, Updenity.com. Submit articles and photos to [email protected].
The next general meeting of the chamber will be noon Monday, Nov. 9, North Webster American Legion Post 253, 756 S. SR 13.
