Robert A. ‘Windy’ Miller
Robert A. “Windy” Miller, 90, Culver, passed away at 5:50 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 1, 2015, in Kokomo.
Bob was born on June 1, 1925, in Joliet, Ill. He was the son of Russell and Mildred (Bloom) Miller. After graduating high school, Bob joined the Army Air Force, proudly serving his country. After his military service concluded he met Charmaine Bluhm on a blind date. They fell in love and married on Aug. 28, 1948, in Hamlet.
While raising their four children Bob attended Purdue University attaining a Mechanical Engineering Degree, later working for Joy Manufacturing. Windy was a member of the Collins-Tasch American Legion Post 399 in Monterey, and the Finney-Shilling VFW Post 6919 Men’s Auxiliary in Culver and he was a member of the 40-8 Veteran Club in North Judson.
Bob is survived by his sons: Joe Miller; Douglas (Pamela) Miller, Culver; Larry (Lois) Miller, Plymouth; daughter: Sandra (Miller) Snyder; and Richard Snyder, Frisco, Texas; six grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and wife: Charmaine.
The Monterey American Legion and the Culver VFW will conduct Military Graveside Rites at 2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 3, at the Culver Masonic Cemetery.
Memorials may be given to Guardian Angels Hospice, Kokomo. The Odom Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
