Tigers Pride Marching Band Takes Third

WARSAW — The Warsaw Community High School Tigers’ Pride marching band placed third in Class A at the Homestead High School Invitational Saturday, Oct. 3.
The band earned an overall score of 69.5. Lafayette Jefferson was second with 71.85. First place, Penn, scored 77.65. Elkhart Memorial too fourth place with 65.65 and Northrop was fifth with 62.1.
WCHS also placed third in all three captions — music, visual and effect, behind Lafayette Jefferson and Penn.
The Tigers’ Pride next competes this Saturday, Oct. 10, at the ISSMA Scholastic State Prelims, hosted by Homestead. The band will attempt to qualify for Scholastic State Finals for a third consecutive year. In 2014, WCHS placed fourth in the state at scholastic finals.
Warsaw’s 2015 competition show is titled, “While the City Sleeps…,” featuring the music of composers John Mackey, Michael Markowski and Samuel Hazo. The band is under the direction of Mickey Ratliff and Emily Mikel.
