Howard R. Frantz
Howard R. “Grouch” Frantz, 80 of Pierceton, Indiana passed away at 2:05 a.m. Monday, Oct. 5, 2015 in Millers Merry Manor, Columbia City. He was born Jan. 31, 1935 to Arnold B. and Clarice L. Frantz in Pierceton.
He was a lifetime resident of Kosciusko County. He graduated from Mentone High School in 1953. He served during the Korean War from 1954–1957. He married Shirley Shumaker. He retired from RR Donnelley, Warsaw, Indiana where he held many position. He was a member of the American Legion Post 258, Pierceton, Indiana. “Grouch” enjoyed motorcycling, gardening, taking photos of flowers and wildlife.
Howard is survived by his wife, Shirley Frantz of Pierceton, Ind.; two sons Arnold R. Frantz of Warsaw, Indiana and Kevin Frantz of Pierceton, Ind.; a brother Roger (and spouse Joann) Frantz of Warsaw, Indiana; six grandchildren and six great grandchildren. Also surviving are half-brothers, Randy, Rex and Clarence Dickey; two step-children Cheryl Biltz and Steve Shumaker both of Warsaw, Ind. He is preceded by his parents and a daughter Rhonda Frantz.
Visitation with family and friends will be from 2-8 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 8, at McHatton-Sadler Funeral Chapel, Warsaw. There will be no service. Burial will be at a later date in Palestine Cemetery, Palestine, Ind.
