Manchester, Rochester On Top At TRC
NORTH MANCHESTER – The Lady Squires and Zebras, boosted by championship runs, each claimed team titles at the Three Rivers Conference cross country championships Saturday morning. Rae Bedke of Manchester won the girls race going away at 19:26 and the duo of Wesley Meyer and Eli Pugh finished one-two gave Rochester claim of the podium, Meyer’s time at 16:23 and Pugh at 16:42.
Manchester had Sarah Rohr and Tahnee Fuentes in the top ten, claiming eighth and ninth with times of 20:55 and 21:06 with Clara Burdette 11th at 21:17 and Emily Lynn in 13th at 21:40 to compose its scoring five. Manchester scored 36 points, with a little distance between them and second-place Maconaquah with its 51 points.
Tippecanoe Valley was sixth with 160 points, its top performance coming from Karly Kitch in 16th at 21:53. Wrapping up Valley’s scoring times were Breelyn Conley (43, 23:59), Haley Hoover (51, 25:09), Haley Headington (55, 25:27) and Lexi Durkes (56, 25:29).
Whitko did not have a team score, running with just four runners. But the output was quality, with Brigit Nemitz sixth overall at 20:45. Suzi Sickafoose was tenth at 21:13, Hanna Yohe was 37th at 23:15 and Lizz Foutz 42nd at 23:58.
The team standings were Manchester at 36, Maconaquah 51, Rochester 81, Southwood 90, Northfield 103 and Valley 160. North Miami, Peru, Wabash and Whitko did not have team scores in the girls race.
Jesse Floor had a great run at the TRC, finishing eighth overall to lead Tippecanoe Valley with his time of 17:42. Wrapping up the Viking scorers were Jared Mikel (32, 19:37), Shay Marley (54, 20:58), Tyler Ross (58, 21:39) and Andy Hearrera (62, 21:58).
Josh Wright led the Whitko Wildcats with an 11th place time of 17:56. Also placing for the Wildcats were Logan Busz (27, 19:08), Zack Freel (40, 19:56), Ezra Miller (56, 21:07) and Kort Gebert (76, 24:59).
The boys team standings went Rochester at 18, Manchester 92, Southwood 97, Wabash 113, Northfield 130, Peru 139, Maconaquah 146, Whitko 189 and Valley 198. North Miami did not have a team score in the boys race.
Tippecanoe Valley will run next Saturday in the Culver Academy Sectional while Whitko will compete in the Fort Wayne Northrop Sectional.
