Bremen Knocks Out Triton
BREMEN – The end of the road came for Triton Thursday afternoon, and it came on Alexandra St. The Bremen boys tennis team knocked out Triton from the Bremen Boys Tennis Sectional with a 5-0 win at DeSantis Courts at Sunnyside Park.
Triton made Bremen work, but could not get much of a leg up on the Lions. Bryce Devine was solid at No. 1 singles, beating Gavin Eads 6-2, 6-2 while Carter Filchak took care of Aaron Stichter 6-1, 6-0 at No. 3 singles. Zac Burkholder had the toughest time for Bremen, needing three sets to eliminate Mace Eads 6-4, 4-6, 7-5 in a wild affair at No. 2 singles.
Bremen’s No. 2 doubles team of Chandler Snyder and Bryce Sterling were very good against Brenden Damron and Chase Butler in a love, love finish. At No. 1 doubles, Jacob Strehler and Josh Ukinski closed out Keygan Moiser and Dalton Bailey’s season with a three and four result.
Triton finishes its 2015 season with a 6-11 mark.
In the other semi-final at DeSantis, Plymouth had absolutely no trouble reaching the finals with a 5-0 win against John Glenn.
Plymouth gave up just five games to Glenn in the dominant performance. In singles play, John Hunter beat Michael Machnic love and love, John Gerard beat Tommy Ortolani love and two, and Tommy Holloway beat Zac Mago one and love.
Braydon Davidson and Nate Knapp bested Louis Delinski and Gabe Weiss one and love while Curtis Smith and Ricky Cooper trumped Alex Ross and Kevin Schmalzreid love and one.
Plymouth will face Bremen Friday for the Bremen Sectional championship. Plymouth has won 18 sectional championships in a row.
