Pastor Howard Max Snively
Pastor Howard Max Snively, Pierceton, went to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ at 12:03 a.m. Sunday, Sept. 27, 2015, at Visiting Nurse and Hospice Home of Fort Wayne, at the age of 88.
He was a resident of Kosciusko County, for the past 26 years where he was a member of Dutchtown Brethren Church of Warsaw.
Howard enlisted in the U.S. Navy on Sept. 4, 1944, and served as a Seaman First Class until his honorable discharge on July 13, 1946. He graduated from Grace College and Seminary in Winona Lake in 1960. He was a pastor for several Grace Brethren Churches in Ohio, Washington State, Alaska, and here in Warsaw retiring in 1988. Howard was also a Warsaw Community Schools Bus driver from 1989-1999.
He was born on Oct. 28, 1926, in Braddyville, Iowa, to Lorenzo “Ren” Gilbert Snively and Florence Ethel (Maxwell) Snively. On Oct. 31, 1947, he married Evelyn Marie Snively, who passed away on January 28, 2014. They were married for 66 years.
He will be lovingly remembered by his two sons: Dan (Joan) Snively, Indianapolis; Michael “Mike” (Beth) Snively, Warsaw; two daughters: Dianne (Joseph “Joe”) Lund, Warsaw; Janice “Jani” (Ed) Strang, Pierceton; 12 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren. He also leaves behind his twin brother: Harold Max (Peggy McBride) Snively, Sun Lakes, Ariz.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; three brothers: Eldon; Oral; and Earl Snively; and three sisters: Mae Anderson; Marjorie Bangs; and Esther Hamilton.
There will be visitation from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 30, prior to the 1 p.m. service at Redpath-Fruth Funeral Home,Warsaw. Pastor Jack Worth will officiate.
Burial will follow with a graveside service at Oakwood Cemetery of Warsaw, Indiana with military rites conducted by the American Legion Post #49, V.F.W. #1126 and active members of the Navy Honor Guard.
Memorial donations in Howard’s name may be directed to the Visiting Nurse and Hospice Home,Fort Wayne, or to Dutchtown Brethren Church, Warsaw, and would be appreciated by the family.
