Helen L. Youells, 94, Atwood, died at 3:12 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 24, 2015, at Mason Health Care, Warsaw.
She was born Oct. 6, 1920, in Atwood, to Walter and Orta (Hazen) Koontz. On Feb. 18, 1946, she married George Youells; he preceded her in death on Dec. 3, 1981.
She graduated from Atwood High school in 1938 and was a lifetime Atwood resident. She worked as a seamstress, secretary and bookkeeper for Jomac, Stokes Bros. and Anglin Signs.
She was a member of Aldersgate United Methodist Church, where she played the piano until 2014, at the age of 93. She also enjoyed time as a member of the Atwood Home Study Home Economic Club and the Kosciusko County Extension Choral Club.
Surviving are nieces: Betty West, Atwood, and Sue Huffman, Warsaw; and nephews: Jim (Melodie) Thomas, Atwood, and Bill (Becky) Thomas, Atwood.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Donald Koontz; a sister, Doris Thomas; and a nephew, Donnie Koontz.
Visiting is from 10 a.m. to noon Monday, Sept. 28, at Aldersgate United Methodist Church, Atwood. Services will follow at noon. Burial will be in Stony Point Cemetery, Atwood.
