Father Failed To Return Children After Visitation
WARSAW — Kim William Kennedy, 51, 601 Oak Glen Drive, Warsaw, was arrested at 9:39 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 23, on four charges of interference with custody, taking a child out of state, level 6 felonies. He was also charged with invasion of privacy.
Booked under the address of 1700 E. Wildwood Drive, Columbia City, his bond was set at $100,000 surety and $250 cash.
Charges against Kennedy were filed on June 22 in Kosciusko Superior Court 1, after Kennedy took his four children for visitation and failed to return the children at the designated time.
According to court documents, Kennedy had court ordered visitation from noon to 3 p.m. June 13, and noon-3 p.m. on June 21.
Police were notified at approximately 3 p.m. June 21, by Mary Burchett, who has custody of her daughter’s children, that Kennedy had picked up the four children at about noon, but had not returned with the children. She told police she was concerned because he has taken the children in the past, refusing to bring them back, which is why the court issued the order for visitation.
Police attempted to make contact with Kennedy through his cell phone, however, the phone was no longer in service. The cell phone provider was contacted, verifying the number had been changed and giving police the new number.
A GPS location of the new phone number was received, indicating that phone was in Ann Arbor, Mich.,
