Eleanor Jane Weyand
Eleanor Jane Weyand, 80, of North Webster, passed away on Saturday, Sept. 19, 2015, at her home. She was born on March 20, 1935, in Kokomo, to Arthur L. and Genevieve E. (Elvin) Miller.
She graduated in 1953 from Kokomo High School, 1957, from Purdue University in West Lafayette, and received her Master’s Degree from Ball State in Muncie. On Nov. 8, 1957, in Kokomo, she was married to Morris L. Weyand who survives. She was a school teacher who retired from Northern Community Schools Tipton County and formerly taught at Kokomo Consolidated Schools for many years. She lived most of her life in the Kokomo area before moving permanently to the Leesburg and North Webster area 15 years ago. She has been coming to the lakes for 40 years.
She was a member of the P.E.O. in North Webster, Tippecanoe Lake Country Club in Leesburg, Alpha Zeta Delta Sorority, and served on the Board of Directors for eight years at Ivy Tech as the Region Five Trustee. She attended the United Methodist Church in North Webster, formerly attended the Episcopal Church and Presbyterian Church in Kokomo. She was an avid Bridge player and enjoyed the lake.
She is survived by her husband: Morris Weyand, North Webster; daughter: Jane Hizer, Indianapolis; son: Morris “Marty” (Judy) Weyand, Indianapolis; granddaughter: Amelia Hizer; two sisters: Marji (James) Winslow, St. Augustine, Fla.; and Sarah (Warren) Flowers, McCormick, S.C. She was preceded in death by her parents.
Visitation will be from 10-11 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 26, at Owen Family Funeral Home, North Webster. Funeral services will follow at 11 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 26, in the funeral home. Graveside services will be at 2:30 p.m. Saturday, at Crown Point Cemetery, Kokomo.
