Carl J. Love
Carl J. Love, 63, Warsaw, passed away at 11:50 p.m. Friday, Sept. 18, 2015 in his residence.
On July 13, 1952, he was born in Warsaw to Devon and Marjorie (Plotner) Love. He was united in Marriage to Kathy Foreman on June 12, 1976 in Warsaw, who survives.
A lifetime resident of Warsaw, Carl graduated from Ivy Tech with an associate’s degree in business and then graduated from Indiana Tech with his bachelor’s degree. He was employed with Zimmer Inc. for thirty nine and a half years.
He served with the Kosciusko County Sheriff Department for nineteen years and Winona Lake Police Department for fifteen years. Carl came up with the idea for and wrote the grant to provide defibrillators to every county fire department and to every police car. He then received his certificate to train all of the police officers and firemen. Because of his efforts, he received the Heart of Gold Award and an award from American Heart Association in 2002.
His efforts led to Kosciusko County becoming the highest number of heart attack saves for a county in the nation. He also developed the training program for the county reserves and he also graduated from the Reserve Academy.
Carl attended First United Methodist Church, Warsaw and the Fraternal Order of Police, Kosciusko County #149. He also was in charge of security for the Blueberry Festival in Plymouth and was an announcer for the Lake City Skiers for a few years. He received an award for the best announcer during the ski competitions.
Carl is survived by his wife: Kathy Love, Warsaw; his daughter: Kimberly (Jon) Crosby, Warsaw and his first expected grandchild; his mother, Marjorie Love, Warsaw; two brothers: David (Christine) Love, Middlebury; and Dale (Alicia) Love, Claypool; his sister: Brenda (Duane) Roberts, Leesburg; his mother-in-law, Pat Moore, Warsaw; his German Shepherd: Sidney and all of his brother police officers from around the county.
He was preceded in death by his father.
A funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 24, in McHatton-Sadler Funeral Chapel, Warsaw with Pastor Scott Carmer and Lt. Joel Beam officiating. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery, Warsaw.
Visitation hours will be from 2–8 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 23, in the funeral chapel.
