WASHINGTON, D.C. ‚— Rep. Jackie Walorski announced this week’s honoree for her, “Who’s Who in IN-02,” initiative. During a speech on the House floor, Walorski paid tribute to Nappanee Mayor, Larry Thompson, who will soon retire after two decades of public service.
“Mayor Thompson has been a dedicated public servant to the citizens of Nappanee,” Walorski said. “I cannot thank him enough for his leadership. On behalf of the people of the Second Congressional District of Indiana, I thank Mayor Thompson for serving as a role model for the entire Hoosier state and wish him all the best.”
During his 20-year career as Mayor of Nappanee, Thompson has been instrumental in improving economic development in Nappanee. He’s attracted businesses like Martin’s Super Market and Miller’s Assisted Living, creating jobs and making Nappanee one of the most vibrant communities in Indiana. In addition to serving as mayor, he, along with his wife Linda and their two children, run the Thompson-Lengacher & Yoder Funeral Home, which provides funeral services to the Nappanee community.
Prior to his election, Thompson worked as an Emergency Medical Technician, a firefighter and served as a member of the Nappanee Park Board and the Wa-Nee Community Schools Board of Education.
