Singer/Songwriter Series At Eagles Theatre

WABASH — For three weeks this fall, the Eagles Theatre will bring Nashville to Wabash, with acoustic sessions by award-winning singer/songwriters who will perform their hits and talk about gaining success in Nashville and beyond. The concerts will be held Oct. 8, Oct. 22 and Nov. 12. Ticket prices are $30 for all three shows; single shows are $12 in advance or $15 at the door.
The Singer-Songwriter Series begins on Thursday, Oct. 8 featuring Steve Seskin. Seskin is one of the most successful writers in Nashville today, having had his songs recorded by Tim McGraw, Neal McCoy, John Michael Montgomery, Kenny Chesney, Collin Raye, Peter Frampton, Waylon Jennings, Alabama, Mark Wills and Peter Paul and Mary. He won the CMA Song of the Year award in 1999 with is song “Don’t Laugh At Me.”
Performing with Seskin will be Pete Sallis and Brian White. Sallis, who writes for Shakes Spear Music and has cuts by American Idol winner Phillip Phillips, RCA pop star Betty Who, three-time Grammy winner Americana/Blues artist Keb Mo, Maddie and Tae, Ronnie Dunn, Bucky Covington and wrote a CCMA Single of the Year for George Canyon.
Brian White, also a veteran of the music industry, has been a touring artist, fronted the Christian rock band, Brian White and Justice for 15 years, recording five projects, and as a writer, has earned fourteen number one songs, two Dove Awards for Song of the Year and an SESAC Country Song of the year. With over 300 cuts to his credit, his songs have been record by such artists as Rascal Flatts, Trace Adkins, Gary Allan, Rodney Atkins, The Swon Brothers, Steve Holy, Earl Scruggs, Blackhawk, Kix Brooks and many more.
The second concert of the series will take place on Thursday, Oct. 22, featuring Wabash native J.D. Cable and his lead guitarist, Marcus Ott of J.D. Cable and The Empty Bottle Band, which blends southern, country and classic rock. Performing nearly 150 shows a year, The Empty Bottle Band, entertains packed houses all around middle and east Tennessee, North Carolina, Georgia, Alabama, and Kentucky. JD, a Southwood High School graduate and a Veteran of the United States Army’s Legendary 2nd Armored Division Band, has performed all over the Continental United States side by side with some of the best musicians in the world including John Michael Montgomery, Billy ‘Thunder’ Mason, Ralph Ezel and Terry Wendt along with many more and has opened for Artist including Travis Tritt, Neal McCoy, Sylvia, 38 Special and Foriegner.
The final concert of the Singer/Songwriter Series will take place at 7 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 12 and will feature Aaron Barker. Barker wrote two number one singles in a row on George Straits’, “Easy Come, Easy Go” and “I’d Like To have That One Back”. George Strait’s “I Know She Still Loves Me” and “I Can Still Make Cheyenne” also hit the number one position. Barker’s other number one songs include “Not Enough Hours In The Night”, “Watch This”, and “You’re Beginning To Get To Me”, Neal McCoy’s “Love Happens Like That,” Aaron Tippin’s “I’m Leavin,” and Lonestar’s single “What About Now.”
Performing with Barker is 1996 GMA Dove Awards’ Male Vocalist of the Year and former host of Prime Time Country, Gary Chapman. Chapman’s career as a Christian singer/songwriter spans more than 20 years and includes eight Dove Awards, four number one songs on multiple charts, three Grammy Award nominations and three years as host of TNN’s Prime Time Country.
