Jay B. Pirtle
Jay B. Pirtle was born on Nov. 28, 1956, in Indianapolis, to Nancy and Joe Pirtle. on Friday, Sept. 11, Jay moved on to a better, pain free world. Jay had a positive and happy outlook on life as he spent the last few years in a battle against heart failure.
As a young man, Jay was an active member of Irvington Methodist Church. Jay was a 1975 graduate of Warren Central where he was an all-county fullback and was selected as Marion County Christian Athlete of the Year by the Fellowship of Christian Athletes. Jay went to DePauw University where he was a member of Phi Delta Theta Fraternity, captain of the football team as well as a four year starter. Jay graduated in 1979.
Jay was the founder and owner of several small businesses. Jay later worked for the City of Indianapolis as a consultant to Mayor Steve Goldsmith. Jay then worked for the State of Indiana as a consultant to Gov. Mitch Daniels. Jay was a Navy veteran and a Captain in the Indiana National Guard.
As a college student, Jay worked summers at Tippecanoe Lake Country Club and fell in love with lake living. After an early retirement, Jay moved to Lake Tippecanoe and lived there until illness forced him back to Indianapolis. Jay was loved and had many friends and will be missed by each and all.
Jay is survived by his parents: Nancy and Joe; brothers: Doug (Shelley), Fort Myers, Fla. and Drew, Indianapolis; and dear friend: Lois McLean.
