Trojans’ Runner-Up At Home Invite
Triton saw a lot of familiar faces and played a lot of volleyball Saturday at the Triton Volleyball Invite. Facing a pair of Hoosier North Athletic Conference rivals along with a pair of local foes, the Lady Trojans went 3-1 on the day in the round robin tournament.
John Glenn won the tournament with a 4-0 mark, taking the key match in the third round against Triton in a 25-16, 25-15 final. Glenn rolled in wins against Argos, Culver and LaVille to finish off the tourney. John Glenn beat Triton 3-0 in the first match of the regular season Aug. 17.
Triton started its day with a 25-11, 25-6 romp of Argos and came back with a 25-6, 25-11 win against Culver, the second time in two weeks Triton has defeated Culver. The Lady Trojans ended its day in round four with a 25-22, 25-17 win against HNAC foe LaVille.
Hannah Wanemacher had a nice tournament, racking up 38 assists, 10 digs, 10 aces and a kill. Jaela Meister added 22 kills, 15 digs and four aces, Nicole Sechrist had 30 digs, six kills and six aces and Quinn Downing chipped in 17 digs, four aces and a kill.
Triton improves to 7-7 overall and will host Elkhart Christian Tuesday. The Lady Trojans will visit LaVille and Argos back-to-back in two weeks.
Golfers Happy With Third At HNAC
It was a windy but beautiful day for golf Saturday at Chesapeake Golf Club, and the sun was shining on Triton’s golf program. The Lady Trojans shot a 497 to tie for third at the HNAC Golf Championship among the seven conference teams in action.
Triton’s score tied them with North Judson, which was the course host for the tournament. Kayla Kreft shot a 111 and was named All-HNAC for her efforts. Tessa Heaton finished at 120 and was Honorable Mention All-HNAC. Kate Gardner scored 128 and Sam Edington was at 138 to complete Triton’s scores in the inaugural tournament.
Winamac finished with a 436 to claim the conference title, followed by Pioneer at 447. Caston (511), West Central (567) and Knox (571) completed the field.
Triton will have one more dual match this season, Wednesday, against Plymouth before prepping for the Warsaw Girls Golf Sectional next Saturday at Stonehenge.
