Rebekah Sue ‘Bekki’ Smith
Rebekah Sue “Bekki” Smith, 58, died 11:07 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 9, 2015, at Parkview Regional Medical Center, Fort Wayne.
She was born on Jan. 30, 1957, in Fort Wayne, a daughter of Charles and Beverly (Koontz) Bolinger. Her formative years were spent in Columbia City where she graduated from Columbia City Joint High School with the class of 1975.
On August 22, 1976, she was united in marriage to David P. Smith. They made their home in Fort Wayne. In 1986 they moved to Columbia City and then to McAllen, Texas in 1999. In 2009, the family moved to Tennessee and then to their current home in Troy, Ohio.
Becky enjoyed artistic painting, playing the piano and spending time with her grandson, Henry. She was one of Jehovah’s Witnesses.
She is survived by her husband of 39 years: David; two children: David P. Smith II; and Lyndsey (Charles) Springer, both of Fort Wayne; grandson: Henry Springer; and an expectant grandson; her parents: Charles and Beverly Bolinger, Columbia City; two sisters: Debbie Longenecker, Warsaw; and Shelly (Eric) Dellinger, Fort Wayne; and her constant friend and companion, her dog: Lexi.
The family will receive friends and family from 2-4 p.m Sunday, Sept. 13, at Smith and Sons Funeral Home, Columbia City. A private family service will be held at the Clear Creek Cemetery, Huntington at a later date.
Preferred memorials are to the Columbia City Congregation of Jehovah’s Witnesses.
