Syracuse Man Injured In Accident
GOSHEN — The driver of a cement mixer complained of pain to the back, after that vehicle rolled onto its side attempting to avoid hitting a farm tractor.
Justin J. DeSomer, 43, Syracuse, was taken to IU Health Goshen, following the accident at 12:41 p.m. today, Thursday, Sept. 10. The accident was on CR 38 east of CR 35, east of Goshen.
Jason N. Hoover, 57, Goshen, was driving a 1998 Case 8930 farm tractor eastbound on CR 38, east of CR 35, when DeSomer began passing the tractor in a no passing zone. DeSomer was driving a 2005 Advance FD5000 Cement Mixer, also eastbound.
While DeSomer was passing the tractor, Hoover allegedly began to turn left into a private drive without signaling but hesitated mid-turn. DeSomer attempted to veer right in a failed attempt to avoid colliding with the back of the tractor. The cement mixer went off the south side of the road and rolled onto its side. Hoover was not injured.
Neither driver was cited at the scene.
