Laveral W. ‘Bert’ Ransbottom
Laveral W. “Bert” Ransbottom, 86 of Warsaw, passed away at 2:37 am Monday, Sept. 7, 2015, in Grace Village Retirement Center, Winona Lake.
On Dec. 25, 1928, he was born in Kosciusko County to Melvin and Almeda (Sisk) Ransbottom. He was united in marriage to Ella Mae Shilling on Oct. 23, 1949, in Palestine, who survives.
A lifetime resident of Kosciusko County, Bert worked for Dalton Foundry, as a forklift operator, for 42 years. He also worked for Kosciusko County Highway Department, on the mowing crew and The Fitness Shop, in maintenance. He was a member of the United Methodist Church, Claypool and Claypool Lions Club. He was also a former volunteer firefighter for the Claypool Fire Department.
He is survived by his wife of 65 years: Ella Mae Ransbottom, Winona Lake; four children: Cindy Gates, Warsaw; Roger (Dawn) Ransbottom, Warsaw; Sally (Rex) Gradeless, Auburn; and Kathy (Gary) Sponseller, Etna Green. He is also survived by 11 grandchildren: Rhonda (Renee); Steven; Cheyenne (Justin); Karrin; Tyvan (Nicolette); Daren (Rachel); Wendy (Clark “Ross); Rex II; Kyle (Mai); Amy (Jeremy); Barry; and 11 great-grandchildren: Diego; Jordy: Aleah; Jake; Jenna; Kylie; Colt; Oaklee; Ella; Hailey; and Abbie. Burt was preceded in death by three brothers and four sisters.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 12, in McHatton-Sadler Funeral Chapel, Warsaw, with Pastor Mike Settles officiating. Visitation will be from 2-4 p.m. and from 6-8 p.m. Friday, Sept. 11, in the funeral chapel.
