CenturyLink Closes Warsaw Office
WARSAW — Clients of CenturyLink received a surprise this morning, Tuesday, Sept. 8, when visiting the store’s location on West Center Street, downtown Warsaw.
The doors are locked and a sign posted the company has closed its doors. Customers may also have found the phone number to call, to find the nearest store, doesn’t work. The remaining option, an Internet check on its store locator, shows the nearest store is at a Best Buy in Noblesville, over 150 miles away.
Contact was made by Ink Free News to Nancy DeVinay-McNeley, media relations for Indiana. She stated the decision to close the store was announced on Aug. 24. However, there was no release issued.
DeVinay-McNeley is attempting to find a workable number. In the meantime, CenturyLink customers will have to rely upon the Internet or postal service to pay bills, or call one of the company’s toll free number for the type of assistance required.
Mark Molzen, issues manager, corporate communications with CenturyLink, stated the company continually evaluates its cost structure and business practices and adjusts its operations, including retail locations, to meet the needs of the business. “After careful consideration, CenturyLink has made the decision to close the Warsaw Retail location.”
He stated customers who have been accustomed to visiting the retail locations to pay bills or conduct other businesses are being directed to visit centurylink.com or to call customer care or repair for support. Those numbers are found on monthly bills.
There were two employees impacted by the closing. Molzen stated these two may apply for other positions within the company or receive a severance package. They could also participate in outplacement assistance programs, including career planning, resume preparation, marketing plan development, interview preparation and job search method training.
