FORT WAYNE— Sweetwater Sound Inc., based out of Fort Wayne, is planning to add  up to 285 new jobs over the next three years. Sweetwater, founded by Chuck Surack in 1979, is the third-largest music instrument audio retailer in the country.

An $8.8 million project that includes expanded facilities in Allen County has construction set to begin this fall. In 2012, Sweetwater broke ground on a $23.6 million expansion project, which included an additional 315 jobs. The company moved to its current campus in 2006.

Sweetwater could receive up to $2 million in conditional tax incentives from the state based on job creation plans, not including breaks from Northeast Indiana Works and the City of South Bend.
