One Critical, One Serious In Milford Crash
MILFORD — One individual is in critical condition and a second one in serious condition following a motorcycle, horse and buggy accident, west of Milford today, Thursday, Sept. 3.
The accident was at 3:07 p.m. on CR 1350N, near CR 200W. Responders arrived locating the motorcycle driver, Tracy A. Newcomer, 58, Nappanee, in the roadway. He was airlifted from the scene and taken to Parkview Regional Medical Center, Fort Wayne, in critical condition with head and multiple injuries.
Frieda Lehman, 58, Nappanee, a passenger in the horse drawn buggy, was transported to South Bend Memorial Hospital in serious condition with leg, chest and back injuries. The driver of the buggy, Willis Lehman, 76, Nappanee was reportedly uninjured in the crash.
Kosciusko County Fatal Alcohol Crash Team members stated a preliminary investigation has determined Newcomer was traveling westbound on CR 1350N. A horse and buggy being controlled by Willis Lehman purportedly entered onto the roadway from a private driveway in front of Newcomer. Newcomer collided with the rear portion of the buggy, partially ejecting Frieda Lehman.
Officers stated the crash is still currently under investigation. The Kosciusko County F.A.C.T. team was assisted at the scene by members of the Milford Fire Department, Nappanee EMS, Milford Police Department, Lutheran EMS Kosciusko, Indiana State Police and the Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Department.
