Surveillance Video Leads To Arrest
WARSAW — Video surveillance captured a man stealing approximately $1,591 worth of items from Wal-Mart Super Center, Warsaw, on five different occasions, which lead to his arrest Monday.
Michael V. Binstock, 54, 3271 W. Hill Drive, Columbia City, has been arrested for theft, a level 6 felony. He was booked in the Kosciusko County Jail Monday evening, Aug. 31, and held on $2,000 surety bond.
The affidavit of probable cause, field on April 30, states on April 7, around 3:18 p.m. Binstock was seen on the video entering the store, walking to the electronics department, selecting three cameras and removing the security tags. He concealed the cameras in his coat before leaving the store without paying. Similar actions were recorded on April 8 around 4:49 p.m. and April 11, around 6:39 p.m.
He is seen on video around 12:22 p.m. April 12, going to the electronics department, selecting a camera, then going to the pharmacy and getting a package of Nexium. He removed the packaging and security tags, placing the Nexium and camera in his coat pocket before leaving, without paying.
The final video footage, on April 23, around 3:07 p.m. he is seen selecting a pair of Levi jeans, and a portable hard drive. The video shows him cutting the security tags off the hard drive, going to the self-checkout station where he takes a Wal-Mart Bag and goes to the customer service desk for a non-receipt refund. He was issued a gift card in the amount of $137.94 for the items.
