Parkview Warsaw Planning To Open Early 2016
WARSAW — The ground was broken in November 2014 for Parkview Warsaw, northwest of Parkview YMCA, since then the ground has been excavated, foundation completed and now the exterior and interior work is taking shape. It won’t be long before the perspective drawing becomes reality.
Scott Gabriel, president, Parkvew Whitley Hospital, who will also oversee Parkview Warsaw, said the facility will be substantially completed in the time frame of December. “If you were to drive by in December you will see a completed building,” he said. The opening is planned for the first of the year and will be done in phases. While the wet summer put construction a little behind, workers are catching up.
Gabriel said physician offices will open first. This will include primary care physicians as well as ologist — urologist, cardiologist. Next will be the outpatient services — radiology, lab and physical therapy.
“Anything you need as an individual,” said Gabriel. While some services will not be available initially, need for the majority will direct the services.
“We really are looking at this continuous with the Parkview Whitley facility, so at this point we will not duplicate every single service, but we’ll see what the volumes look like on whether or not we need to develop further here … if I have an influx of everyone wanting a service here, we’ll certainly take a look at it here.”
The last phase to open will be the emergency room, staffed with full service emergency room board certified physicians, “the same as any other emergency room in any other hospital you go to.”
Once completed the building will be 87,000 square feet. The Parkview Whitley facility, In perspective, is 100,000 square feet, not including the professional building. “The third floor will be completely open at this time, it’s just shell space, we will be able to utilize. We also have the ability to go out about 8,000 square feet, and go up all three levels so we can go over 100,000 square feet, if that is what the market chooses to do to us.”
The facility’s future expansion “depends on where the market goes. There’s two big questions. How many inpatient rooms are you going to need in tomorrow’s world? Many things are done in an outpatient setting. The second is how many patients choose to use this facility,” said Gabriel.
The interior decor will feature photograph from local residents, as part of the hospital’s call for local photos. The hospital wants to make patients, visitors, staff and physicians feel at home in the new facility. The staff plans to mat, frame and hang local photos on the walls throughout the facility, that represent the community. Amateur and professional photographers are being invited to submit photos of landscapes, architecture, industry, people, places, sporting events, school and community actives reflecting the culture of Kosciusko County, past and present. The deadline for submissions is Sept. 30. Entry submission qualification can be found on the home page at parkview.com
Gabriel stated there will be no inpatient rooms at the Warsaw facility, but there will be observation rooms in the emergency room area. “This is a large portion of what we see in today’s world. Anyone that needs an inpatient stay will go on to Whitley or Fort Wayne,” Gabriel said.
“The key think is bringing the Parkview brand to a community who has been asking for it (for a long time) The timing was extremely good with partnering with the Y. It really made a nice partnership for us and a nice focus.”
A grand opening to allow the public to walk through the new facility will be held after the first of the year.
