Bobby Joe Gist
Bobby Joe Gist, 78 of Warsaw, went home to be with Jesus at 12:40 p.m. Monday, Aug. 31, 2015, in his residence.
On April 18, 1937, he was born in Centerville, Ark. to Arrie and Ruby (Underwood) Gist. He was united in marriage to Bonnie Jean Rohrer on July 31, 1976, in Warsaw, who survives.
Bobby lived in Arkansas until he moved to the Warsaw area on April 10, 2000. He worked for Tyson Foods in Russellville, Ark. for 22 years, retiring in 1999 and was then employed by the Times Union Newspaper for 15 years. He was a member of United Pentecostal Church, Warsaw.
He is survived by his wife of 39 years: Bonnie Jean Gist, Warsaw; a daughter: Merla Mae (Mitchell) Ousley, Warsaw; son: David (Cathy) Bryant, Bourbon; brother: Arrie Gist Jr., Russellville, Ark.; a sister: Pearl Nunckles, Dardanelle, Ark.; grandchildren: Josh and Natalie Ousley; and Daisy (Jason) Hollon, Warsaw; Tracey (Matt) Ingle; Tina (Scott) Allen; Dava Bryant; Matthew (KC) Bryant, all of Nappanee; and Matthew Hummel, Bourbon. In addition, 11 great-grandchildren survive. He was preceded in death by three brothers: Bubby; Harold; and Jim Gist.
A funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 3, in United Pentecostal Church, Warsaw, with Pastor Dan Cox officiating. Burial will be in Island Cemetery, Milford. Visitation hours are from 2-4 p.m. and from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 2, at McHatton-Sadler Funeral Chapel, Warsaw.
