Helen Eloise Smith
Helen Eloise Smith, 93, of Warsaw, passed away at 4:30 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 29, 2015, at Kosciusko Community Hospital in Warsaw following a short illness surrounded by her family. Helen was born on Dec. 14, 1921, in Warsaw to James O. and Nellie (Devenney) Tuttle.
She graduated in 1940 from Larwill High School and was married on Oct. 31, 1942, in Paris, Texas, to Keith H. Smith who preceded her on Oct. 25, 2008. She retired in 1984 from DePuy in Warsaw in the shipping and receiving department after 22 years and was formerly employed at Controls in North Manchester & Whitley Products in Pierceton. She was a lifetime Whitley and Kosciusko County area resident and wintered with her husband for 22 years in Apache Junction, Ariz.
She is survived by her daughter: Marcia (Steve) Randolph, Warsaw; three sons: Phil (Kim) Smith, Leesburg; Ron (Toni) Smith, Indianapolis; and Stan (partner Linda Last) Smith, Mesquite, Texas; four grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and sister: Marilynne Curtis, Warsaw. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; grandson: Patrick Wiseman; two sisters: Marjorie Tuttle; Betty Burnworth; and three brothers: Maurice; Gordon; and John Tuttle.
Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 2, at Owen Family Funeral Home, North Webster. Funeral services will follow at 7 p.m. Wednesday, in the funeral home, with Chaplain Forrest Tabor officiating. Cremation will take place at Cremation Services of Kosciusko County, Warsaw, with private family burial to take place in Hillcrest Cemetery at a later date.
Memorial bequests may be given to American Legion Auxiliary Post 253 in North Webster. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
