Kosciusko
Officers with the Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Department investigated the following accidents:
10:16 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 30, North SR 15, north of West Levi Lee Road, Warsaw. Driver: Austin C. Bakian, 23, Etna Green. Bakian suffered abrasions to knee/lowrer leg/foot and was transported to Lutheran Hospital, Fort Wayne. He was cited for improper passing and driving left of center. Bakian could not remember what happened. A witness stated Bakian attempted to pass her in a no passing zone in a curve at a high rate of speed and went off the road to miss oncoming traffic. The motorcycle hit a ditch and flipped, ejecting the driver. Damage up to $5,000.
4:41 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 30, North CR 500E, Syracuse. Driver: Stephen F. Henwood, 50, Syracuse, Henwood backed his vehicle into a parked vehicle registered to Mark A. Hazelet, EMS B37 Lane, Warsaw. Damage up to $5,000.
8:29 p.m. Friday, Aug. 28, South CR 800W, north of West CR 200W, Mentone. Driver: Matthew A. Gross, 34, Mentone. Hit deer. Damage up to $2,500.
2:36 p.m. Friday, Aug. 28, South CR 500E and East CR 350S, Warsaw. Driver: Michael D. Stacy, 44, Etna Green. Stacy swerved to miss a deer. His vehicle hit a bump in the road causing it to go off the road and roll over. He refused medical attention. Damage up to $25,000.
Syracuse
Officers with the Syracuse Police Department investigated the following accident:
3:50 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 27, East Bowser Road, Syracuse. The unidentified owner of a vehicle reported his vehicle was struck by another vehicle, which left the scene. Damage up to $5,000.
Warsaw
Officers with the Warsaw Police Department investigated the following accidents:
9:48 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 30, Lake City Highway and Meijer Drive, Warsaw. Driver: Collin J. Bice, 18, Waterloo, and Adam W. Bottles, 43, Columbia City. Bice’s vehicle struck the back of the Bottles vehicle. Damage up to $2,500.
12:08 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 30, Walton Boulevard, Warsaw. Driver: Rita L. Whaley, 60, Warsaw. Whaley complained of pain to the neck from seat belt but refused to go to the hospital. Whaley had donated blood and left the store feeling a little weak. She stated as she was driving through the parking lot she believes she passed out, hitting the concrete reinforcement of pedestrian crossing sign. Paramedics were called, but she refused to go to the hospital and was transported home by a private vehicle. Damage up to $10,000.
11:14 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 29, Detroit Street, south of Center Street, Warsaw. Drivers: Charity M. Trusty, 33, Warsaw, and Ciera N. England, 21, Columbia City. Trusty complained of pain to the elbow/lower arm. Ryan A. Davidson, 21, Silver Lake, complained of pain to the head. Neither were transported. Trusty’s vehicle collided with the England vehicle. Damage up to $25,000.
5:50 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 29, Lake City Highway and Silveus Crossing, Warsaw. Drivers: Ian D. Lees, 24, New Knoxville, Ohio, and Joel R. Weaver, 49, North Manchester. The Lees vehicle slid into the back of the Weaver vehicle. Damage p to $2,500.
4:30 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 29, North Detroit Street and West CR 250N, Warsaw. Drivers: Alfredo P. Diaz, 51, Warsaw and Delanie J. Bussard, 23, Nappanee. Diaz was cited for driving while suspended and failure to stop after an accident. The Diaz vehicle struck the Bussard vehicle, and then left the scene. When located a short time later, he told police his foot slipped off the brake. Damage up to $5,000.
12:26 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 26, Walton Boulevard, Warsaw. Driver: Boyd E. Alderfer, 76, Haines City, Fla. and Larry D. Williamson, 73, Warsaw. Alderfer was backing from a parking space, unaware the Williamson vehicle had also backed from a parking space across the isle. His vehicle rolled backward slightly hitting the Williamson vehicle. Damage up to $2,500.
