Vikings Drop Home Opener
AKRON – The Tippecanoe Valley football team came up just short for the second straight week Friday night.
The host Vikings dropped a 21-14 final to Western in the home opener.
Western led 14-7 at halftime and 21-7 after the third quarter before Valley scored a touchdown in the final stanza.
Brandon Webster led the way for Valley, now 0-2 on the season. He had three receptions for 41 yards, including a touchdown catch from Alec Craig. Webster also returned an interception 20 yards for the other Valley score.
Quarterback Craig was 14-28 for 139 yards passing with one touchdown and one interception.
Garrett Bell led the rushing attack with 19 carries for 53 yards for the Vikings.
Rigo Butler had his second straight big game receiving with six catches for 63 yards. Jared Duzenberry had four receptions for 27 yards.
Valley will play at North Miami in their Three Rivers Conference opener next Friday night. Western, now 1-1, will host West Lafayette.
