Tennis Team Falls In Ligonier
The Wawasee tennis team took its second loss of the season Thursday night. West Noble downed the visiting Warriors 4-1.
Nate Haines was the lone winner for the varsity squad. Haines had an odd match but ended up winning 6-1, 2-6, 6-1 over Jared Swank on the No. 1 singles court.
Wawasee (3-2) will travel to Whitko on Tuesday.
The JV team fell to 2-2 for the season following a 3-2 defeat. Trevor Haessig was victorious at No. 2 singles 8-1. The No. 3 doubles team of Brady Robinson and Austin Kline also won with a score of 6-3.
West Noble Escapes With Win
The Wawasee boys soccer team allowed two first half goals determine the outcome of its home contest with West Noble. The Chargers took a 2-0 lead into the half but were shut down in the second half. Warrior keeper Caleb Glon had 10 saves, but Wawasee’s offense could not catch up.
The Warriors scored a goal in the second half via Carter Jones (assisted by Nick LeCount) but would fall 2-1.
“The boys showed even more heart tonight, watch out Culver,” stated head coach Jordan Sharp.
Wawasee (1-4) will travel to play Culver Academy Wednesday evening.
Four Turnovers Helps Warrior Frosh Grab ‘W’
The Wawasee freshmen football team grabbed a 27-6 season-opening win over Huntington North Thursday night at Warrior Field.
Wawasee’s defense forced four turnovers in the contest.
Wawasee (1-0) will travel to West Noble next Thursday.
Volleyball Drops Match At Home
Wawasee’s volleyball team fell 3-0 to Bethany Christian. The Bruins started hot and never lost control winning 25-7, 25-19, 25-22.
Wawasee falls to 1-7 on the year and will host Manchester Tuesday night.
The JV squad continued to roll, winning 25-17, 25-20. The JV Warriors are now 7-1.
