UPDATE: Possible Drowning In Bixler Lake
UPDATE: At approximately 11:50 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 25, Indiana Conservation Officers, along with assisting agencies, recovered the body of a male victim in Bixler Lake.
No further information is available until positive identification is made and family members are notified.
KENDALLVILLE — Indiana Conservation Officers are investigating a report of a possible drowning in Bixler Lake in Kendallville. At 5:36 p.m. today, Tuesday, Aug. 25, Noble County Dispatch received a call that witnesses observed a person calling for help while swimming near the southwest side of the lake. Witnesses observed the person go under the water and not resurface.
Conservation Officers and other emergency responders searched the area with side-scan sonar and divers, but were unable to locate the person.
Conservation officers will resume their search efforts in the morning, Wednesday, Aug. 26.
Conservation Officers were assisted on scene by the Angola Fire Department, the Fremont Fire Department, Indiana State Police, the Kendallville Fire and Police Departments, and the Steuben County Underwater Rescue and Recovery Team and the Northern Indiana Search and Rescue Team.
