Former President Battling Cancer
ATLANTA, GA — Former President Jimmy Carter revealed Thursday, Aug. 20 that he has been fighting cancer.
The melanoma, which was originally found in his liver, has now spread to four different spots on his brain. Carter starts his first radiation treatment Aug. 20, and will receive three more over the next nine weeks.
The former democrat said that he was “looking forward to a new adventure,” with the cancer, and was looking optimistic, even smiling during his press conference. “It’s in the hands God, whom I worship, and I’ll be prepared for anything that comes.”
