YMCA Fall 2 Classes Starting Soon
WARSAW — Kosciusko Community YMCA will be starting fall classes on Aug. 31. Classes will run through Oct. 25. The Fall 2 session will be Oct. 26 through Dec. 20. Classes for youth will include swim lessons and gymnastics classes for all ages.
Classes that promote the Healthy Living aspect of your Y will include group exercise and Indoor Group Cycling classes, classes for older adults and water aerobics in both the Warm Water and Lap Pools; adult classes are included with a Y membership.
New this session in group exercise the Y will be offering Refit, a class using full body movements for a complete cardio, toning and flexibility workout to family friendly music. Stroller Fit will be an opportunity for parents to spend quality time with their baby, age 3 months to 2 years, while incorporating push-ups, lunges, squats and abs. It will also be an opportunity to interact with other new moms and dads in the community.
Other, returning group exercise classes include: Interval Training, Cycling, Zumba, Body Sculpt, Zumba Gold, Boot Camp, Fit After 40, Mat Fusion, Lunch Crunch Yoga, Zumba Toning, Step and Sculpt, TRX, Kickboxing, Body Tone, Barre Fitness, Women and Weights and more.
Water Aerobics classes will include Movers and Groovers, Joyful Joints, Aqua Fit, SilverSplash, Women in Action, Tone and Fit, Shallow and Deep Water Aerobics, Aqua Jogging and Aqua Abs. For a complete listing of times and descriptions see www.kcymca.org.
For youth, new classes include Little Ninjas for ages 3 to 5 and Fit for Kids ages 6 to 8. The 30-minute Little Ninjas class includes fun obstacle courses, games and a lot of movement! In Fit for Kids, children will be introduced to teamwork and fitness in a fun way through group games, relays and activities.
In addition to the regular class schedule the Y will be offering several programs and events this fall for youth, teens and adults.
The YMCA Sharks Swim Team will be starting up again on Sept. 14 for Y members age 5 and up who can swim one length of a 25 yard pool. As a member of the Sharks, swimmers will develop their competitive skills, stroke techniques and endurance in a supportive learning environment.
Participation builds character, teamwork, and encourages individual achievement. Every Sharks swimmer has the opportunity to compete in meets throughout the season. Swim Team registration opens Sept. 1.
For teens, the Y will be offering Girls on the Go on Mondays starting Aug. 31 as a running and social program for teen girls. There will be Teen Nights on Sept. 11, Oct. 9 and Nov. 13 from 6-8 p.m. for ages 13-18. Youth and Government will be starting Sept. 28 for grades 8-11 for teens to experience how state government works, learning the values of democracy and how to be leaders in the democratic process.
Adults will find several ways to get involved and engaged in healthy living this fall at the Y. 12 Weeks to Fitness starts Sept. 1 and will help participants maintain a healthy weight and promote overall health through exercise and nutrition. The Y will offer a Running Program Sept. 1 through Oct. 25 to make running fun and motivating for all skill levels. There will also be an Adult Outdoor Soccer League starting on Thursday, Sept. 3.
Sept. 1 the Y and Parkview Health will offer free A1C tests in the Parkview Center for Healthy Living in the YMCA lobby. This test will help determine if a person is pre-diabetic. If they are, the Y is offering the YMCA’s Diabetes Prevention class to keep it from advancing into diabetes. The class begins Tuesday, Sept. 1.
Registration for the Fall 1 youth classes and special events is going on now at the North Webster or the Parkview Warsaw YMCA branch or online at www.kcymca.org. Fall 2 registration will start Oct. 19 for everyone.
