George Manns
George Manns, 74, of rural Claypool, passed at 8 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 11, 2015, at his residence.
He was born Dec. 27, 1940, in Prestonburg, Ky., to Ellis and Daisy (Bradford) Manns. In Silver Lake on March 21, 1959, he married Eula Mae Owens, who survives.
George worked for Dalton Foundry, Warsaw Foundry, and Midwest Spring of Mentone where he retired in 1994. He raised calves for many years. He greatly enjoyed riding around on his 3-wheeler, backhoe, fishing boat, and tractor with his beloved preceded cat Romeo. He also enjoyed hunting and fishing. He had a great faith in God and his family was very important to him.
Survivors include wife: Eula Manns, Claypool; sons: Shawn (Karen) Manns, Claypool; Joe “David” (Lechia) Manns, Claypool; grandchildren: Jacob (Tambi) Manns, North Manchester; Jamie Manns, Boca Raton, Fla.; Jesse (girlfriend Tia Clemons) Manns, Warsaw; Tyler Manns, North Manchester; Emma Manns, Warsaw; Matthew Manns, Warsaw; Catherine “Cassi” Watson, Fort Wayne; and four great-grandchildren: Caleb; Rayanne; Jacob; and Jayden; brothers: Lawrence Manns, Warsaw; Willard (Sue) Manns, Akron; Ed Manns, Silver Lake; Dale (Sue) Manns, Warsaw; sisters: Annie Grace (Luther) Bailey, Claypool; Dorothy Bailey, Akron; Mary Bell (James) Overbey, Claypool; Ruby Jean Keitzer, Fort Wayne; Marcella (Lonnie) Dillon, Akron; and Jenny Emmons, Silver Lake, and special friend: Jack Francis, Burket.
He was preceded in death by parents; brothers: William and Ballard Manns; sister-in-law: Ella Manns; and his best friend and cat: Romeo.
Visitation will be from 1:30 p.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 15, at Hartzler Funeral Home, Akron. The service will be immediately following at 3 p.m. Saturday, also at the funeral home, and officiated by Pastor Luther Bailey. Burial will be in Akron Cemetery, Akron.
