New Educators Set To Make A Difference
KOSCIUSKO COUNTY — School is about to begin and new teachers are moving into the county to fill the educational needs of our children. On Wednesday, July 29, the Kosciusko Chamber of Commerce provided a luncheon to welcome over 75 new educators to Kosciusko County. The event was in partnership with Teachers Credit Union, Good Oil Company and 1st Source Bank.
Tippecanoe Valley, Warsaw, Whitko and Wawasee schools as well as the Chamber’s Education Workforce Development Committee were present at the luncheon. Mark Dobson, president and CEO of the Kosciusko Chamber of Commerce welcomed all and spoke about education being one of the chamber’s initiatives.
Dobson then introduced Anna Jackson representing the Warsaw Community Public Library and Tracy Furnivall of the Baker Youth Club who spoke about the different programs and services offered to Kosciusko County residents.
Randy Polston, director of applied learning at Grace College, was the guest speaker at the luncheon. Polston spoke to new educators about their role in the lives of students stating, “Make sure you write stuff down throughout your career. You are going to make the difference in the lives of kids.”
Educators left with a single key message that they make a difference and will always be treasured and remembered by their students. The new teachers received goodie bags filled with a variety of items provided from local businesses.
This is an annual event put on by the Kosciusko Chamber of Commerce to welcome these much appreciated members of the community.
