M. Phyllis Gordon
M. Phyllis Gordon, 92, a resident of rural Churubusco and widow of Sanford D. Gordon, passed away at 10:27 a.m. Tuesday, August 4, 2015, at her home in Smith Township.
Mrs. Gordon was born on April 18, 1923, in Eel River Township, a daughter of Neil J. and Alma M. (Grady) Walker. She spent her formative years in the Churubusco area and graduated from Churubusco High School in 1941.
On Jan. 15, 1943 she was married to Sanford D. Gordon. He preceded her in death on March 10, 2002.
She was a member of the Gilbert Davis American Legion Post 157 Ladies Auxiliary, Churubusco Veteran’s of Foreign Wars Turtle Post 3846.
The surviving relatives include her children: Paul (Marla) Gordon; and Donna (Oras) Butler, both of Churubusco; her grandchildren: Neil (Ann) Gordon; Alan (Penny) Butler; Michael Butler; Larry Gordon; Amanda (Marcus) Elam; and Justin (Jamie) Gordon; and nine great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her sister: Ruth Dafforn.
Graveside services will be held at Eel River Cemetery at 2:30 p.m. Friday, August 7, with Eddie Jones, officiating.
Memorial may be directed to the Gilbert Davis American Legion Post 157 Ladies Auxiliary.
